Evelyne Cassan, born in 1953, began her artistic practice four decades ago with collages and acrylic paintings, exploring the art world in a self-taught way. Her path then led her to join the studio of painter Claude Le Boul in Montreuil, where she spent ten years working on the nude.
Over time, Evelyne took part in numerous exhibitions in the Paris region, enriching her experience and refining her style. Later, she chose to settle in the Lot region, where she still lives and has her own studio.
Her artistic practice, centered on nude drawing in pastel and dry chalk, is nourished by interaction with the male and female models she meets in a collective studio. The quick sketches she makes on the spot form the basis of her works, which she then reworks in acrylic paint, using a variety of tools.
Inspired by the Expressionist movement, Evelyne stands out for her willingness to transgress norms and represent the essence of the human body. Reacting to the smooth, sanitized image conveyed by advertising and fashion, she seeks authenticity, subjectivity and emotion in her art.
