I was born in Cajamarca, Peru.
After my Education Studies, I started my artistic career at the Regional School of Bellas Artes in the city of Trujillo, Peru; and I finished at the National School of Bellas Artes of Lima, Peru; graduated in the specialty of Sculpture and Drawing, winning the Sculpture Award in 1982.
I participated in the International Competition of Monumental Snow Sculpture in Quebec, Canada against 18 countries from around the world, obtaining two distinctions: Audience Award and Artists Award in 1991
First Prize in the National Competition to make a sculptural impression of Rozendo Maqui, the main character of the novel "El Mundo es Ancho y Ajeno” by the great Peruvian writer Ciro Alegría.
I was also awarded a scholarship for a Sculptural Demonstration representing Peru as a cultural agreement with the country of the former Yugoslavia in 1991.
Commissioned to create several statues and monuments in squares and parks within Lima and surrounding districts. Most of them in bronze including polyester resin with fiberglass. I will describe them afterwards.
My creative portfolio is also joined by the completion of many public and civil personalities’s busts, all in bronze.
I was the director of the “Free Expression” art gallery and workshop.
I have had many invitations as a guest speaker in conferences, lectures, committees, and as a panel judge for several sculpture competitions in Lima and other cities of Peru.
Currently I am developing some monument projects that will be presented to commemorate the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru.
nfluences:
My great references are Michelangelo, Donatello, Auguste Rodin, Carpeaux, Benvenuto Cellini, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Pablo Rubens, Henry Moore.
