Phishing attempts, false sales: how to protect yourself from scams?

What is phishing? Phishing is a fraudulent technique where cybercriminals pose as trusted entities to trick victims into obtaining their sensitive information, such as passwords or credit card numbers, using spoofed messages or websites. .Thieves can then make payments over the internet or withdraw money from the victim's account.

Phishing works by sending fake sale notification
Scammers will often send you a fake sale notification via email, in a design that ressemble ArtMajeur's email, or another trusted entity, with a link to their fake website. Then you will be asked to enter your credit card details, or other personal information.

Important: Please always check your sales on section : MY ACCOUNT > SALES

Basic rules to avoid phishing

  1. Never communicate with customers outside of the secure messaging interface on ArtMajeur
  2. Never write your email in plain text or your telephone number on the internet
  3. Always check the origin of the sender of important emails you receive
  4. Never pay from a link received by email

Always communicate from your secure interface on ArtMajeur

Your ArtMajeur account has a secure messaging interface. All messages are filtered and if an anomaly is detected, we can intervene very quickly. When you communicate outside of ArtMajeur, we cannot protect you!

Never write your email address in plain text on the internet

Your email is protected on ArtMajeur: it is never displayed to the public. But if you write your email elsewhere on the internet (your Facebook account, your personal site, your Instagram profile, etc.), it is very easy for people with bad intentions to find it, by doing a simple Google search. They can then send you a fake message from ArtMajeur and try to scam you.

Always check the origin of the sender of the emails you receive

ArtMajeur messages are sent from an address that ends with @artmajeur.com (support @artmajeur.com, noreply @artmajeur, notifications @artmajeur.com etc...). ArtMajeur will never write to you from an email from a free provider like gmail.com or live.com etc... If you receive a message from an email address that does not end with @artmajeur.com it will is a scam.

Never pay from a link received in an email

Classic phishing scams are always based on a fake email that contains a link to a fake site: the victim then enters their payment details, and sends them directly to the malicious people. When you receive an email with a payment link, always check that the link you go to contains https://www.artmajeur.com .

What should I do if I receive a phishing attempt?

  1. Report the SPAM/phishing message immediately to your internet provider
  2. Forward the message to [email protected] so that we can block their site
  3. If you have already made a payment, or given your payment information, contact your bank immediately to object
  4. Report the message to the appropriate authorities
