"KISS". I woke up this morning and realized that as an ex-musician/songwriter, I always appreciated the simplicity of the greatest songs ever written. The result is entitled "KISS"- Keep it simple, stupid. Sometimes the simple answer is the right answer. [...]

Artist Statement

A little bit about me: I started painting last year. I don't know anything about art, and I'm still learning the fancy names for all the colors and art terminology. A few years before that, I was living on and off the streets here in South Africa. I knew I had to change my situation; I knew I had something to share. Better things were coming my way, and dying in sin and depravity was not going to be my end. My voice has cried from deep to deep, and because of that, I can create and express art from a profound place within my soul. I paint because of the urgency to express, the desire to say what I need to say. I paint knowing where I've come from and where I'm going. Living can be suffering; surviving is finding meaning in the suffering. My character and experiences have forged me stronger. I'm not chasing fame or money, but I hope to inspire others through my art, knowing that anything is fixable if you dig deep enough. In the darkest night, let the lightning guide you. This is my story....Me paint, I am Cave Man. Big rocks and sky, strong sun. Me, with stick and stone, make lines & color. Me show life. Hunt beast, find food. Me and tribe, strong together. Fire burn, warm. Me Cave Man, tell story on wall. Ebedes 2024

Artist Biography

Dunc Ebedes is an emerging artist whose vibrant acrylic paintings capture the essence of impressionistic abstract expressionism. Exploring the interplay between chaos and serenity, Ebedes delves into the complexities of life's struggles and triumphs. Drawing inspiration from his personal journey, he seeks to evoke emotions of resilience and hope, inviting viewers to find catharsis within his canvases.

Although relatively new to the world of visual art, Ebedes has been an artist at heart his entire life, transitioning from a background in music to painting just over a year ago. Despite lacking formal accolades, Ebedes quickly gained recognition, with his works being sought after by private collectors from the outset.

With plans to relocate to the UK within the next two years, Ebedes looks forward to immersing himself in new emotional landscapes and cultural influences, further enriching his artistic vision.

Ebedes' art serves as a testament to the transformative power of creativity, inspiring others to embrace life's challenges and find beauty amidst adversity. Through his unique fusion of acrylics and unconventional tools such as kitchen and baking utensils, Ebedes invites viewers on a journey of introspection and discovery, where every brushstroke tells a story of resilience and redemption.
