On the Pacific coast of Bali island, there is a beach. Volcanic rocks, with interesting shapes and textures for centuries, are standing against the waves of the ocean. This shape, made by forces of nature always inspired me. With impressionistic, impasto soft, and expressive techniques, I have tried to develop the composition reflecting the beauty and sunshine on the shore. The contrast between a warm rock and a turquoise-blue ocean outline the beauty even stronger.

Aleksandr Dubrovskyy is a Ukrainian painter whose artistic journey spans decades of dedication, exploration, and mastery of color and composition. Born in 1949, his path in art began early, studying fine arts in Enakievo before formalizing his education at the Kharkov State Art School. His formative years were enriched by mentorship from renowned artists of the Soviet school of painting, including K. Lomykin, F. Zakharov, and T. Yablonskaya, whose influence helped shape his distinctive style.

Dubrovskyy's artistic career has been deeply intertwined with travel, creativity, and cultural dialogue. From the 1970s, he actively participated in numerous exhibitions across the Soviet Union, Japan, and later Algeria, Germany, and France. His plein air expeditions took him across Ukraine, Europe, and even the Himalayas, allowing him to capture the essence of diverse landscapes with a vivid, impressionistic approach.

Beyond painting, he has also contributed significantly to monumental art, designing and creating mosaic panels in historic cathedrals such as Saint Mina in Alexandria and St. George’s Cathedral in Kyiv. His works are held in museum collections and private galleries worldwide, reflecting a lifelong commitment to capturing the poetry of light, nature, and human experience through art.
