Biography
Artist Bui Trong Du - a son of the Red Flamboyant City of Hai Phong - where the white-capped waves, the brown sails and the sunny... always sing in harmony on the blue ocean and fill the soul of every person here.
Starting a career in Hanoi. In his hard days, the sun, the wind and the saltiness of the sea have permeated him., becoming a part of his emotions and creating his personality. Growing up, he brought "it" with him, along with his childhood memories, into his career. Perhaps that's why Du chose a simple, rustic but full of personality painting style to convey his emotions to the public and art lovers.
He is a famous contemporary Artist in Vietnam, with over twenty years of experience in lacquer art. He has succeeded in expressing his ideas and emotions through simple images of everyday life. Lotus and Young Girl are the main themes chosen by the artist to express. Stylized realism and Figurative is the language of expression, sometimes mixed with a bit of expression.
In terms of form, the subject is simplified with a touch of nostalgia. The rustic brushwork has the influence of Vietnamese folk paintings. Some special techniques and materials such as gold, silver, mother-of-pearl, etc. are used for highlights or main objects in the work, creating a very strange visual feeling.
His paintings have been exhibited nationwide, as well as in France, England, the United States, Burma and Korea. Inspired by the beauty and traditional culture of Vietnam, his works are also imbued with memories of the countryside.
Works such as summer lotus, young girl with lotus, street corners, flower vases, and childhood memories such as flocks of birds, fish, frogs, dragonflies... here, show the melody of life and childhood memories - innocent beauty is always the theme for the artist to exploit through his inner emotions. With complex lacquer material contrasting with simple shapes, this interesting combination has created the mark of artist Bui Trong Du in the context of Vietnamese painting in the integration period.
