L'opera ha una forma che le permette di poter essere appoggiata su ogni superficie liscia, ideale per arredi interni. L'opera ha inoltre ispirato la seguente poesia:
Vulnerabilità, a lungo
Con occhio cieco
Rifiutata, l’ego regnava
Le crepe divenute più profonde
Bruciacchiate lentamente
Congelate nel tempo
Ecco l’aurora
I raggi del sole scaldano la guancia
Il cuore non più inascoltato
La fonte nel profondo degli abissi
Mi tenta, mi attrae, mi tortura
La verità
Dolce Vulnerabilità
English-born, I started to play with wood at the age of 11, inspired by my woodworker father. Since then, my connection with this material has always been disruptive and inescapable. There's no way to escape its strong call.
Later, during my adulthood years, I worked backstage in the theatre in London and this gave me the chance to occasionally build something practical and to get my hands on wood.
Creative expression has always been a part of me and in recent years it has found an outlet through wood art. For me it is wonderful to be able to use my hands to transmit emotions and imagination, to play and to realise; it is catharsis, healing, connection, spiritual. It is also many hours of tossing and turning in bed as I envisage what I truly wish to represent and how to achieve it.
Guiding me is an emotion that wants a release, an image or simply a sense of play. There is, however, always one constant: unpredictability. Wood lives and breathes; it wants to be heard, to be considered, and to play its role in the creative process. This is where the true beauty lies in sculpting: the meeting of my artistic intention and the wood’s desire. The outcome is often not quite what I had expected or intended, but it is always a collaboration, one which gives me a sense of unity and connection with the wood.
