Artist Cukurcuma gallery is happy to represent Lesya Demchenko's new art works.
The exhibition called 'mixed', because not all works are made with the same tecnique. There are oils, cartonage tecnique pictures and cardboard sculptures.
Subjects of the pictures are also mixed. nudes, stillifes with food, and streats of İstanbul.
The works wich attract the most attention are 'cartonage' pictures. To make them, artist uses cardboard wich she finds on the streats.
The artworks made of garbage don't astonish nowdays. But the way Demchenko uses this material is totaly different from what we all know about art.
Cardboard has waved levels inside of it. Artist cuts the cardboard in some places, making this levels come outside. And colors those waves, wich from distance look like strips of color. İn the same time, pictures are figurative, and reveal very professional hand.
All this cuting of cardboard, and painting it's levels, glueingcolored paper, brings Demchenko's artwork to very unusual threedimensional effect.
Front picture of the exhibition represent venus in a bathroom.The nude is taken from Boticellis painting. But she is totaly modern woman, she has mobile phone, and her bathroom, looks like luxuris hotel bathroom near the sea shore. All details of the picture are cuted from cardboard and painted.

Very impressiv picture. Made from cardboard, mixed media.

Paintig is usualy made to decorate the walls, that's why it is necessary to make pictures cheerful, nice and rich. Lesya Demchenkos pictures are really rich, because of variety of colors and brightness, and of caurse originality of material which used for it.
İt is simple cardboard, which can be cuted, painted, glued and other pieces of other paper are glued to create what we call real art. But it is not what we used to call collage. The main joke is how inside part off cardboard is used. İ mean waves, which from distance look like stripes of color.
The creator who works differently already wins much respect, but pictures of Demchenko became one off the most interesting artifacts of İstanbul.
Beside this, most of the pictures represent real İstanbul life. Streets, and people on them, laundry hanged to dry, cat and dog in every angle and Bosporus which can be seen from the roofs.
Lesya Demchenko's works, like all mordern art, can be seen from different angles. At first you can see only witty method used systematicaly to astonish public. But it is not so. This pieces are very deep, reflect artist's soul, and they are profetional. Demchenko is appreciated by many companion atists, critics, gallerists.
there just is something about her, and cartonage technique, the moor İ see it, İ feel there is greate future in it.
