During my visit to Subotica, a beautiful city in the north of Serbia in the province of Vojvodina, full of architectural, cultural and religious sights, I could not miss this magnificent sacral building. I went inside and was immediately delighted with the sight. I took the camera and of course, took photos because it is allowed inside the Synagogue. This is A view of the central altar, Bima, also: Bimah, from the Greek word Βημα, the central place in the synagogue from where it is read from the Torah during worship.

The synagogue in Subotica is one of the largest in the world. It is the second largest in Europe and fifth in the world. In addition, it is certainly one of the most beautiful.
It was built in 1902 in Art Nouveau style by the project of Budapest architects Marcell Komor and Dezso Jakab, associate architect Ödön Lechner, the creator of the Hungarian Secession. In 1974 it was declared as a cultural monument of exceptional importance. Most of the Jews of Subotica lost their lives in the Holocaust, so that today, among other things, it is a memory of them.

The synagogue is one of the most valuable achievements of these Central European kinds of religious architecture. It is characterized by bold and modern architectural designs, stained glass ornaments and stylization taken from Hungarian folklore, such as the stylized petals of roses, lilies and carnations and peacock feathers.

In the four smaller domes, symbolizing the four corners of the world, rests a large central dome, symbolizing the universe. The dome over the central part is enriched with constructive innovation, so it rests on the iron structure, which is carried by eight iron pillars.

Three entrance doors lead into the narthex, above which is a space for women, and four staircases lead to the gallery. In addressing the facade we can notice three horizontal bands: the first – belt of entrance portals and horizontal apse around them; the second – in which is the pediment with the main stained glass window and in the corners two lower towers; third – the drum of the dome with a double dome. Brick and painted Zsolnay ceramics with ornate decorations based on Hungarian folk motifs were used....
it is certainly one of the most beautiful sacral buildings in this region and you should definitely visit it if you ever come to Serbia and Subotica.

Welcome to my Artmajeur fine art gallery!

I am a fine art photographer, photo editor-retoucher and photo restorator and colorist from Serbia with years of experience. I mostly do landscape photography but also other genres of photography and I love to photograph all those beautiful scenes that are worth saving forever.

I started doing fine art photography when I was very young. But I can say that I have been actively and more seriously engaged for the last 25 years, maybe even more. I acquired my education through various professional literature, as well as through online courses and tutorials. however, I mainly acquired my skills through many years of practice, learning during creating, and hard work. I found inspiration in the artworks of great masters of painting and photography. I am still trying to improve myself even more and learn something new. My works can be found in several world-famous online galleries and I have also exhibited my works in art galleries and exhibitions in the country.

Here you can buy my artwork prints: fine art prints, canvas prints, metal prints, framed prints that will decorate your home and all of that in the best possible print quality. All you see here are my original artworks, so I do not resale any stock images.
What makes me happiest is when I see that people really like my work and want it hanging on their walls. That makes me work harder and create even more nice artworks. I hope you will like some of my images.

Enjoy.
