Daniel Gyekyi Gyan is a Ghanaian contemporary artist known for his masterful and emotive depictions of his subjects. Discovering his talent at a young age, he pursued his education at Salem Senior High School in Accra and later attended Accra’s Ghanatta College of Art and Design, graduating in 2008 alongside Amoako Boafo.
Gyan's characters are brought to life with warmth, honesty, intensity, and raw energy through his use of acrylic paint and modeling paste. He often employs a palette knife to create small strokes, adding depth and texture to his work. As a seasoned painter, Gyan communicates the essence of his society through his contemporary paintings, focusing on themes such as models, culture, children, and social life. His works frequently depict African models and those in the diaspora, capturing a sense of movement, stillness, and poise.
His portraits, often of sizable dimensions, manage to captivate audiences and art lovers alike. In addition to his figurative works, Gyan occasionally delves into abstract art, infusing each piece with his unique inspiration and perspective. His ability to convey profound narratives and emotions through his art is central to his creative vision.
