Le Pont Alexandre III,a été inauguré pour l'Exposition universelle de Paris en 1900, Il était destiné à symboliser l'amitié franco-russe, instaurée par la signature de l'alliance conclue en 1891 entre l’empereur Alexandre III (1845-1894) et le président de la République française Sadi Carnot. La première pierre fut posée par le tsar Nicolas II de Russie, l'impératrice Alexandra Fedorovna et le président Félix Faure le 7 octobre 1896.
Le « Grand Palais des Beaux-Arts » est édifié à Paris à partir de 1897, pour l'exposition universelle prévue du 15 avril au 12 novembre 1900. « Monument consacré par la République à la gloire de l’art français », comme l'indique le fronton de l’aile ouest, sa vocation originelle consiste à accueillir les grandes manifestations artistiques officielles de la capitale.
Pont Alexandre III, was opened for the Paris Exposition in 1900, it was intended to symbolize the Franco-Russian friendship, established by the signing of the alliance in 1891 between the Emperor Alexander III (1845 1894) and the President of the French Republic Sadi Carnot. The first stone was laid by Tsar Nicolas II of Russia Alexandra Feodorovna Empress and the President Felix Faure October 7, 1896.
The "Great Palace of Fine Arts" was built in Paris in 1897 for the Universal Exhibition scheduled from April 15 to 12 November 1900. "Monument dedicated by the Republic to the glory of French art", as indicates the pediment of the west wing, its original purpose is to accommodate large official art events in the capital.
