Corinne Cesca is a contemporary French artist known for her distinctive approach to monotype printmaking. Her artistic journey began at the School of Plastic Art in her hometown, where she was introduced to drawing, painting, and sculpture by teachers who were former Fine Arts students. It was there that she encountered the monotype technique on the school's large engraving press, which profoundly captivated her with its intense blacks, fine lines, and the exhilarating moment of seeing the final work emerge on paper.
Corinne Cesca was drawn to the spiritual and personal dimension of art, which led her to focus on representing the body and its intimate expressions through her prints. In pursuit of her passion, she left her previous profession to dedicate herself full-time to monotype printmaking.
In 2019, Cesca was awarded the Espoir Prize by Miroir de l'Art Magazine at the Bellaz'art Bastille Design Center Salon in Paris. She has since participated in various art fairs, including Figuration Critique, and exhibited at the Capazza Gallery in 2021 during the thematic exhibition “Enfances.” She is currently featured among the artists of the Pandem' Gallery Art.
Cesca's technique involves working on a smooth metal plate, using engraving inks that offer malleability, durability, and a range of textures and colors. She enjoys the tactile process of removing, scratching, and adding materials, which allows her soul to manifest in the furrows of the print. The final print, made with a press and revealed on damp paper, is unique, with no ink left on the plate for additional prints.
Her artistic approach seeks to express the precarious humanity present in each individual, aiming to find a timeless, universal language. By working with the monotype technique, she captures fleeting emotions and hidden aspects of the human condition, creating works that reveal the soul and provoke reflection.
