Claude Duvauchelle is a contemporary French artist whose work has been centered on the human body for the past two decades. Through his art, Duvauchelle explores the alienation and struggles brought on by the violence of modern civilization, portraying humanity as regressing to a primal state, enslaved by its most destructive instincts.

His early influences include the Quattrocento painters, particularly Mantegna’s "Dead Christ," where he was drawn to the dramatic interplay of light and shadow, martyrdom, and crucifixions. In his recent works, Duvauchelle translates these classical inspirations into a modern context.
