Veel van dit werk komt tot stand via doodles, betekenis komt gaande weg als doodle wordt tekening wordt schilderij, noodzakelijkerwijs is alles dus ook met een (lichte) knipoog bedoeld. Ik vind het eingszins verwant met het accidentisme van Kamagurka (check links).
Much of this work is based originally on doodles. It acquires meaning for me as it goes through the process of becoming a drawing and finally a painting, necessarily therefore presented in a spirit of light irony.

Biography
Ciarán Ó Néill, born in England to Scottish parents, grew up in Ireland before spending most of his adult life in Amsterdam. An amateur painter and photographer, he is interested in systems, boundaries and near-repetition, themes that run through his work. Influenced by Post-Impressionism and Expressionism, his style reflects a constant search for raw emotion and visual intensity.
Although he hadn't picked up a paintbrush since childhood, it was the powerful and angry work of Dutch artist Armando that inspired him to reconnect with painting. Since then, Ciarán has taken his art very seriously, seeking to improve with each new creation, despite his amateur status.
In his artistic practice, he explores the blurred boundaries between repetition and variation, playing with patterns and colors to capture complex feelings. His work, while introspective, is marked by a rigor and passion that transcends mere leisure, revealing a deep and personal artistic quest.

De volgende serie schilderijen die ik ga maken zal iets van Faces from a Subconscious Gallery of Scenes from a Subconscious heten. Onder andere de nog untitled, bogeyman en de weeping shades zullen (mogelijk) daar van deel uit maken ... (Update 01/08/2007) ... Niks gebeurd verder met deze serie, werk een beetje willekeurig, overweeg twee andere series; "red blue & yellow" en "flowers"
... Ga morgen een maand lang fietsen in Frankrijk. Veel fotos zullen geladen worden daarna, van Frankrijk, London, de Ardennes/Eifel en Ierland en zlefs een paar van Nederland!

Exhibitions in coffeeshops The Loft and Siberie in Amsterdam
As of 19th january this year 5 paintings from my galleries Scenes from a Subconscious (Volumes I and II) will be hanging in coffeeshop The Loft in Amsterdam. As of the middle of March the same paintings, plus 1 or 2, will be moved to coffeeshop Siberie on the Brouwersgracht. Exciting times! With heaps of gratitude to The Coffeeshops!!

Exhibition/opening bij Galerie De Passie op de Prinsengracht in Amsterdam
On Sunday May 2nd Galerie de Passie (amateur gallery, Prinsengracht 408 - ) will present her new collection. I have the honour of providing one of the so-called special exhibitions. This means that I get a space in the gallery to hang with my own work as I please. The exhibition will remain in place for the month of May. This is a fantastic opportunity for an amateur like myself and I'm delighted, if petrified.
