Christine Sawas is a contemporary sculptor based in Morocco. Her aesthetic sense was refined, and her creations worked as the vehicle for her search for identity, using an anthropological creative approach. In love with an ethic of primitive naturalism and figurative arts, it is towards the technique of Raku with its immense creative potential that she turns. The power of the earth, the ancestral gesture never ceases to fascinate her. She finds herself between the organic and the mineral, in a powerful alchemical process, and constantly experiments in order to leave a human trace, a tangible emotion and in order to transcribe authenticity and accuracy in the expression of forms.
Sawas' art is influenced by her surroundings, her life, a glance, an interaction, and the basic beauty of the world around us, its richness, abundance, and the power of nature. Her delicate and precise aesthetic is endowed with an inner softness and tranquility that leaves no one unmoved, and each item is cherished for its individual character.
