Christiane Lohrig is a contemporary German painter. She experimented with a variety of materials, preferring abstract painting, tearing strips of wallpaper on and off and reworking them with oil and spray paint. Using colors, shapes, and lines to create canvases that dance with images, objects, and text, Lohrig transforms clichés and anecdotes into her own visual language.
Lohrig only paints on canvas these days. She covers the canvas with wallpaper or paper, tears it off again, and then reworks it with oil and spray paint. She adapts clichés, banalities, and tales to create her unique images. On the canvas, colors, forms, and lines are artistically combined to create symbioses between abstraction and object, image, and writing.
Christiane Lohrig was born in 1958, in Germany. Lohrig's works are part of various public and private collections all around the world. She is a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists in Saarland.
