Never picture perfect, don't judge the inside by what you only see*I'm just a simple servant, if you like my work don't honor me*As steward of my gifts I might appear to you just like a fool* But who's fooling whom when the Master is using His own tool?***Never photo ready, my art is nothing but a game*But working with His instruments the Master puts the world to shame* As color on the palette I complement my neighbor's part* And when we come together the Creator Painter finishes His art***Never quite complete, my life is not perfected here* Don't expect a finished job before the Perfect will appear* As Master Sculptor God is using me like clay*His loving hands will shape and form until Completion Day. SDG. I credit my very artistical mother with getting me interested in drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. She always had art materials ready no matter where we went and forever encouraged me to produce yet another picture. No wonder I got highest grades in art class when I entered school! As a teenager I began to experiment with other media, especially oils, yet as a young adult I went "3 D" and became an apprentice to sculptor Walter Kracht, Detmold, Germany, from 1983-1984. He taught me the fundamentals necessary to embark on a career in sculpture and engraving. But God had other plans: I married my wonderful American wife Katrine, moved with her to the US and had a family here. Since I could not support us in my profession I found other ways in rural Vermont, so my talents lay "dormant" for several years. Exceptions were the occasional commissions to do a carved sign or a monument engraving. (Building our house of natural field stone off the land turned out to be a piece of art, too!) Now living in Crown Point, New York, I have picked up painting and drawing again as I have more time to do so. My mission: to illustrate different fundamental truths of my faith in Jesus Christ in a fresh new way, to encourage a new look at the old truths, and thus glorify God the Father. My signature "SDG" (Soli Deo Gloria) emphasizes this. All my works are in one way or another "BIble Illustrations" of a different kind. May they be a blessing to you!
