Fils de la peintre Claudine Nicolai de Gorhez, Cedric Waucquez retrouve en 2012 le vieux chevalet de sa mère décédée alors qu'il avait 7 ans et une toile dont elle avait peint le fond. C'est à cette occasion qu'il mêle minutie fantaisie legerté et rigueur avec poésie. Arabesque, virevolte, spirale, autant de chassés-croisés qui dansent sur ses toiles. S'en échappe un cri qui enchante comme une mélodie. Au delà des traits si gracieusement dansant on retrouve la beauté la finesse la puissance des couleurs. Ca chante ca vibre tantôt grave profond presque poignant tantôt tendre carressant délicat avec soudain des traits plus farouches à la limite de l'explosion et de douces plages de rêve blanc ou l'on a envie de s'aventurer l'œil curieux. Il y a dans les toiles de Cedric Waucquez une sorte de message filigranné de suivez moi legerement ironique.
