Joanna Armstrong (JoJo)
My abstract artwork is about discovering my passions, my emotions, and sharing life's journey. In February of 2019, I was inspired to paint, although I had not painted on canvas or wood before, at which time, I developed an enthusiastic excitement for painting. It was then that my sensual creativity erupted, and as an emerging and self-taught artist, I am filled with an overflowing, inner passion to paint. Passion is a word derived from the Greek word, “páthos” (“πάθος”), and has more than one meaning; i.e., suffering; the intense motivation or need to express feelings. The natural ebb and flow of the passionate energies and emotions I possess and feel, allow me to sense colors. With only the use of my hands, a torch and a heat gun, along with the blending of various pigments and resin together, synergistic effects and abstracts are formed through painting, creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces. I find myself enthralled, lost in the moment, embracing my gift of creativity; painting a piece of my life, whether it be where I was in the past, where I may be guided in the future, or simply, my purpose today...Enjoying the gift of today and creating life's journey!
