Brigitte Garcia, an abstract expressionist painter and art therapist, was born in Suresnes, France. Her artistic journey includes literary and artistic studies in Paris, as well as art therapy studies in Tours. She now lives and works in Saint-Nazaire.

As an artist-painter, Garcia’s work is recognized both in France and internationally, with exhibitions in New York, Brussels, Lisbon, and Moscow. She participates in contemporary art fairs such as the Carrousel du Louvre and Art3f, engages in artist residencies, and collaborates with schools to inspire creativity.

Brigitte Garcia’s art is profoundly influenced by American Abstract Expressionism. Embracing techniques such as "all-over" and "action-painting," she predominantly works on large-format canvases. Her paintings express a deep sensitivity and aim to resonate with others, striving to "re-enchant" the world through her art.

While abstract in form, Garcia’s work remains deeply connected to reality, reflecting on the dualities of darkness and light in the contemporary world. Series such as Breaks and Antidotes, Life, Ceremony, and Renaissance explore these themes with emotional depth. Her artistic journey is an initiatory process, where layers of paint form palimpsests that preserve traces of the essential, creating a meditative and contemplative experience for the viewer.

In works like the series Le Temps Suspendu, Garcia invites introspection, encouraging moments of stillness and reflection. Her use of immersive color and sensory disorientation seeks to evoke the sacred within art, drawing inspiration from artists such as Turner, Rothko, Soulages, Turrell, and Olafur Eliasson.

Her recent Gold series introduces gold as a material, symbol, and light source, linking her work to medieval illuminations, Italian primitives, Yves Klein's Monogold, Rauschenberg's Gold Paintings, and the art of James Lee Byars. Through this series, Garcia continues her exploration of the spiritual in the material world, balancing matter and idea, art and life, appearance and disappearance, and the influences of East and West.

For Garcia, art is a quest for the sacred, aiming to illuminate life. She describes her exploration as "a search for perfection in the everyday world, for eternity in the present moment," bridging the ephemeral and the eternal through her creative expression.
