Betty James

Began life in Gallatin Tennessee. The Lauderdale family of four including an older brother relocated to Ohio. Her parents were encouraged early to get little Betty involved in art as it was recognized by her teachers that she was gifted in art. Starting in grade school through high school she would take weekend and summer classes at the Cincinatti Art Museum.
After aquiring a B.A. Degree in fine arts from the University of Cincinatti she went to the Los Angeles Trade Technical College and received an Associates of Arts Degree in Fashion Design.
A path of artistic endeavor has persisted throughout her working career.
Several years after she and her husband moved to Dallas in 1978 they established a service business of installing wallpaper,hand painted murals and faux finish.
A recent affiliation with Richland College Art Department ignited even more passion for art and has been rewarding.
Acryllic medium is her favorite.

I strive for unusual color combinations and compositions in my art. It was divinely intended for me to share beauty with the universe.
I am very passionate about revealing the soul of the precious pet by capturing the intensity of their eyes. What brings about special interest in the portraits is the juxtaposition of realism in the animals to the impressionistic styling of the background.
All you need to do is provide one or several snapshots and from there a great composition can be worked out.
