Holding up to a pure "Impression Realism" format, this original oil painting depicts a true location of the southern Spanish coastal town of Nerja, near Malaga. As the title suggests, the impressions reflected in this scene are compiled to recreate an overall memory from the lived experience of the beach and its surroundings. In the experience of the viewer, one is invited not only to enter into the painting but also to "get your feet wet".
"Impression Realism" became my manner to best describe what I paint as the paintings are basically realistic yet they attempt to give more than just a cropped-window view. Whenever and wherever we are, we are receiving a full experience "impression" of what is being perceived. These are those special moments that we all live and remember so well!
The technique of applying several coats of oil, although time consuming, builds a surface which can then change as daylight itself changes and therefore the paintings come to life, almost as if they can breathe...
