A universe of anamorphosis where the water mirror returns a transformed image, in perpetual motion
I usually accompany my work with light and persistent background music, that of a sea surf, a waterfall or the gentle murmur of a river ... I am on the right track when I have the perfect harmony between my senses: hearing, sight and touch!
Without being an expert in the art of photography, it is nevertheless from them that my paintings emerge, I do not seek to make rare photographs, but simply to find an emotion in a landscape, a point of view; It is then when working on my paintings that I will zoom in on a detail, a tiny part of the photo, an intensity, a movement ... If I have an absolute need, it is to find material , that's how I started by being passionate about these fluid, elusive shapes that are reflections; I am hypnotized by these threads which flow, undulate and deform ...
The other essential aspect is the brightness ... Find the switch to light my paintings! There is in all my paintings a more intense color which serves to magnify others.
Venice, where I live, was the big trigger for my work on these reflections! Its slow rhythm, its movement, its inversions, its shadows and lights have become my pictorial obsession!
My gaze is not only a surface gaze but a deep gaze.
I need to capture this light, to discover the subtlety of the colors which are superimposed in these undulations, this rapid and continual change! A real wealth for a palette of colors!
I am not looking for realism at any cost ... I like to paint the figurative while sliding towards a more contemporary approach! I never wanted to set up a border, the abstraction and the figurative are not opposed, they compose together!
If water obsesses me at this point, it is because it is my mirror, ours to all ... We look at it but the reflection that emerges is perhaps above all that of our soul, that of our heart, it is of incomparable richness; There are so many questions and answers to be found there!
I like to work my paintings in a fragmented way, to break the lines, to multiply the colors, to twist them…. I only paint in acrylics on supports such as paper or wood
