Ashten McKinney is a transgender artist, advocate, and visual storyteller whose work aims to inspire the development of body-positive and self-love practices as important components in self care regimen to those experiencing struggle while finding comfort in their own skin. She continues to share her story and personal practice of creative intimacy through her project, Paint Me Passion.
Often inspired by nature, the bulk of Ashten's work are large scale abstracts focusing on texture, pattern, and movement; while maintaining creative balance through additional focus in smaller works of controlled, linear, black and white illustration. She is the Founder and Art Director for Plant Prayers - Art of Conservation, a collection of artwork benefiting land stewardship and free natural healthcare efforts in Western North Carolina.
Ashten currently resides in her home studio with the company of her 3 children in the Appalachian mountain town of Waynesville, NC.
