Andrei Buryak is a contemporary Belarusian painter. The artist repeats some patterns in each painting, such as objects, characters, and stories, as if they were film shots. Major personalities come together in compositions with floating chairs flipped upside down and other insignificant objects; they also reflect subliminal impressions rather than thoughts. Some canvases engage in a dialogue, narrate, and other paintings serve as freeze frames in this hybrid of pictorial art and motion picture.
Andrei Buryak was born in 1965, in Belarus, where he graduated from the Belarusian Art Academy, Department of Painting. He has exhibited his works nationally and internationally in Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Czech Republic. He is a member of the Belarusian Artists’ Union.
