André Rouquet est un peintre gersois autodidacte né en 1948 à Plaisance du Gers Il peint depuis l’age de 17 ans .A cet âge là, il a découvert la peinture à Bordeaux lorsqu’il a débuté ses études universitaires pour devenir professeur d’anglais jusqu’à sa retraite en 2008.D’abord figuratif ,amoureux de Vlaminck ou Corot, il a évolue vers l’art abstrait qui correspond davantage à sa nature introvertie en quête de l’essentiel.Son intérêt pour la psychologie et les philosophies orientales nourrissent son œuvre qui invite à la méditation ou évoque les énergies de la vie en mouvement.Il a fait quelques expositions personnelles et a participé à de nombreux salons ,recevant quelques prix : Prix de peinture des Indépendants à Bordeaux en 2000, prix de la ville de Pessac,d’Anglet...Grâce à Artmajeur il a pu exposer dans une galerie près de Genève mais trop occupé par son travail professionnel il a été indolent pour promouvoir sa peinture se contentant de créer son site et d’être président du Groupe Expression à Mérignac. En 2010 il a écrit le livre « Djana art » qui parle du Non art et du rapport de l’art à la spiritualité Retraité de l’enseignement et habitant à Anglet,il continue de peindre régulièrement , appréciant comme Renoir « la volupté de peindre ».
