Georgy Amiridze was born in Georgia on March 9, 1969, he is married and has one child. Even before the end of his studies at the Academy of Arts in Tbilisi, he had to abandon his course because of political tensions in the Caucasus. After 1993 he lived in Moscow and actively participated in various exhibitions. In 2008, the tensions between Georgia and Russia aroused in Russia a climate of intolerance and racism vis-à-vis the populations of the Caucasus, and in particular of Georgia. An artist recognized and appreciated by his peers, Georgy Amiridze finds himself ostracized from the Russian cultural scene overnight. He and his family are threatened: caught in the whirlwind of hatred that descends on their country and their compatriots, the Amiridze must leave. Again, now in France. Georgy Amiridze has lived in Rennes since 2008. After five years of artistic silence, during which he continued to paint without daring to exhibit, he has decided today to speak again. Despite his forced exiles, his art carries within him the hope of a man, for his family, his people and his country. Its universality resonates in a France which for several years now also seems to be losing its bearings... In his works, Georgy Amiridze expresses a vision of the soul, of the life of the soul: of Man. It is not about particular cases, but about life in general. So it is up to everyone to make their own interpretation. Amiridze creates works full of vitality, veritable orgy of colors with paroxysmal spontaneity, with curves as supple as they are sharp. The ample strokes with a knife interpret the fullness of a moment of life and at the same time split reality into an infinite quantity of colorful emotions. The expression of deja vu, of a form of nostalgia that is neither quite ours nor quite that of another: this is one of the strengths of Amiridze's work. This nostalgia is particularly evocative in the series dedicated to the “urban landscapes” of Tbilisi and the “Poteries”. Through his creations the artist trusts us and lets us enter his universe, a malleable universe, available to the imagination. Amiridze's paintings radiate warmth, light and harmony. Georgy Amiridze's style does not belong to a specific school; quickly, an evidence appears: the artist has created a unique style, endowed with an incomparable technique. Not belonging to any artistic school opens up a lot of perspectives, multiplies the field of possibilities. Amiridze expresses himself in his language, without denying the universality of art. Nor its duration: each work is made of a multitude of layers of oil or acrylic paint and specific lacquer, which allows them to be preserved for several centuries. Georgy Amiridze's works are present in private and public collections in Georgia, Russia, Japan, United States, Mauritius, Great Britain, Tunisia, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Canada and France.
