Amélie LOUYS, author photographer, was born in Copenhagen and grew up in Dieppe in Normandy. After studying foreign languages, she moved to Barcelona for 12 years where she worked as a manager of European cultural projects.
Passionate about images, this Franco-Danish likes to capture moments in life that surprise, move and amaze her. She sharpens her gaze by attending reporting workshops with Samuel Aranda, Walter Astrada and Darcy Padilla, then explores other photographic genres, particularly in her work as a portraitist and event photographer.
During this period, Amélie multiplies personal and collective projects. Thus, in Carrer Julià, she tells the daily life of a district of Barcelona where time seems to have stopped. The exploration of an ancestral path in the Colombian Andes gives him the subject of a traveling exhibition: the Route of Bochica. Currently, back in Dieppe, Amélie is working on a long-term artistic project on the beaches of the Atlantic and the English Channel that fascinate her. The project hatched on a beach in Galicia where she took a series of photos, Fin du Voyage, which she took after a 900 km walk, a real journey on Spanish soil. Her project therefore continues in Dieppe where her inspiration finds its source in the wind of kites or the cold of a winter afternoon at low tide... She likes to capture simple moments of life and capture this mysterious part that binds man to his environment.
Amélie was awarded at the international Fine Art Photography Awards in 2022 and 2021 (2nd prize) and at the PX3 Prix de la Photographie de Paris, International Photography Awards, James Cameron Margaret Cameron, Neutral Density Photography Awards and Annual Photography Awards competitions. His photographs have been published in El País, CNN Travel, The Independent and Fisheye magazine. Recently, she exhibited at the PhotoPlace gallery (Vermont, US), Foley Gallery (New York, US) and at the Orion gallery (Pourville, FR) during collective exhibitions.
