Fernando Álvarez Alonso nació en La Coruña (España) el 2 de febrero de 1943.
Frecuenta la Escuela de Bellas Artes de La Coruña, fue discípulo de Luis Quintas Goyanes Marqués de Almeiras y José Montemayor grabador de la Real Casa de La Moneda.
Diplomado por el Berufsschule für Maschinen und Stahlbau Köln (Germany).
