ALTO is a French painter born in 1965 and living in Toulouse.
From a very young age, he was immersed in an artistic universe, with a mother who was a painter in his spare time, and a father who was a photographer. amateur.
Very early on, his mother introduced him to oil painting techniques... then around 14, he participated in his first workshops with comic book artists. At the time he was passionate about drawing and particularly American comics.
This naturally led him, a few years later, to join the School of Fine Arts. This is where he begins work on gesture. The objective being to find one's own and unique gesture, often lost and perverted by the influx of images that we consume every day.
He also deepened his knowledge of color.
Several years followed at the architecture school, very rich in exchanges and debates around art and its own work. He gets into the habit of presenting his work, submitting it to the gaze of others and criticism... and drawing on these exchanges to grow and go further in his work.
He evolves through following in the visual arts and music, notably for many years as an independent web designer.
Today, he takes up his brushes again... to carry out much more personal projects.
His style, which can be defined as abstract figurative, takes its essence from his perpetual research into the gesture.
This right and personal gesture which alone can capture the eye of the spectator and transport him on an inner journey where violence and tranquility become one.
