Bringing the Spirit of the Wild West to Life: The Process of Creating a Painting
Every new artwork is an exciting journey. This time, I was inspired by the theme of rodeo, cowboys, and the dynamics of movement. I wanted to capture the energy, the shine of leather boots, the texture of the horse, and the rhythm of motion.
I started with a detailed sketch. For me, it’s essential to ensure the composition feels balanced from the very beginning. Then came the first layer of oil paint. I usually work from dark to light, gradually building up volume and details.
At this stage, I paid special attention to the boots and chaps. Their blue tones with golden patterns create a striking accent that draws the viewer’s eye.
The horse is a crucial part of the painting. Its warm chestnut shade contrasts beautifully with the rider’s clothing. I use both palette knives and brushes to convey the texture of the coat and create the effect of lifelike movement.
The painting is not yet finished, but it’s already coming to life! Soon, I will add the final details and refine the lasso, which will enhance the sense of motion.
