Alexandra Jagoda
Alexandra Jagoda (Ovcharenko) is a contemporary Ukrainian artist born on September 15, 1975, in Ukraine. She has spent half her life in Europe, and since 1999, she has been living and working in Belgium. For Alexandra, painting is a form of meditation, a practice that allows her to lose track of time as she designs and creates new worlds that no one has ever seen before.
Specializing in portraiture, Alexandra finds it fascinating to observe people, visualize their actions and behaviors, and then transform these observations into images on canvas. Her special love is for portraits of women, whom she views as ambiguous and mysterious, filled with a magic that is both alluring and complex. For her, women represent a bottomless world, akin to the rabbit hole Alice fell into in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Through her art, Alexandra explores not just the beauty of women but their inner worlds, which are inhabited by both angels and demons.
Though her primary focus is portraiture, Alexandra also occasionally paints landscapes and flowers. She has exhibited her work in several prestigious venues, including the 2022 Artbox.Projects World 2.0, a collaboration with the Van Gogh Art Gallery in Madrid in 2022, and the International Contemporary Art Fair in Paris in the same year. Her works have also been showcased in group exhibitions at City Hall Applauws in Menen, Flanders, Belgium, in 2021, and at the Cultural Center "De Steiger" in Menen, Flanders, Belgium, in 2020.

This series of abstract artworks delves into the intricate dichotomy of human nature through bold contrasts and striking compositions. Each painting in this series serves as a visual narrative, unraveling the complexities inherent in the human psyche. Light and shadow, chaos and order, hope and despair—these contrasting elements intertwine to form the rich tapestry of human experience. Through the language of abstract art, I aim to convey the intricate dance between opposing forces that shape our lives. The vibrant interplay of colors, shapes, and textures serves as a metaphor for the constant flux and evolution of the human condition. By immersing themselves in this series, viewers are encouraged to reflect on their own inner contradictions and the complexities of the human experience. Ultimately, these artworks serve as a visual meditation on the enigmatic nature of humanity, inviting viewers to embrace the beauty and complexity of their own dualities.

They say that other people's children grow quickly ... But your own children grow no slower. Endless snot and diapers are very quickly replaced by a school bag, and then problems in high school and first falling in love. Where childhood goes, it was here yesterday. Yesterday there was football with friends and cartoons, and today almost adulthood has come… What kind of world will today's tiktokers create and what kind of world will we pass on to them?
