Otilia Carrillo (Ocarrillo) is a Mexican visual artist, introspective, analytical, creative and dreamy who speaks with the brush, she feeds on the events of our time and her work is influenced by the color that should prevail in our lives.
O Carrillo's work is in the contemporary surrealist style, in which he expresses his incessant search for the spiritual values of our society. That is why in his work we can see elements of contrast between the essential and the mundane, between speaking and silence, between black and white and between what we need to be happy and the limits we impose on ourselves to achieve it.
In his creative process he has explored different techniques, from digital art to utilitarian art. In his most recent proposal he presents the use of Encaustic as the main element of the work and not as an auxiliary material for it.
He has participated in seven solo exhibitions and more than sixty collective exhibitions at national and international level. Among his international collective exhibitions, the most notable are those held in Venice, New York, Italy, Punta del Este, Uruguay, Amsterdam, San Diego and Los Angeles. Within the national scope, the venues that stand out are: the Segob, the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate of the Republic, the Pavilion of the Mexican Republic in Los Cabos, the Ministry of Economy, the Cultural Center of Contemporary Mexico, the Watercolor Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Cultural Center of Mexico, "Zona Maco" among others.
Since 2013, she has joined the society of international artists who work with encaustic painting and received second place at the Museo del Carmen, “Honorable Mention” at the Salón de la Pintura awarded by the Galería Vértice and “Honorable Mention” at the Museo de la Acuarela in Toluca.
She currently resides in Mexico City where she continues taking different workshops and participating in various exhibitions.
