Francisco Goya

Francisco Goya was born to a middle-class family of six children on March 30, 1746. He died on April 16, 1828. He began studying art when he was 14 years old. His first lessons were with the local painter José Luzán Martnez in Zaragoza.During his apprenticeship, he learned his trade by copying the works of the masters. He then moved to Madrid, where he worked in the studio of the brothers Francisco and Ramón Bayeu and kept learning. In 1773, he married their sister Josefa. Even though they had a lot of kids, only one son, Xavier, made it to adulthood.
Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes was born in the Spanish village of Fuendetodos on March 30, 1746. Goya, the son of a gilder, became one of the most important painters in his country in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He didn't start doing work that made him stand out until he was in his thirties. He was a romantic artist who painted and made prints. Some people thought he was the last of the Old Masters and that he was "the father of modern art."
