Technique

Perhaps the most difficult thing to do...Explain how as an artist, I do what I do. Most of the time I have an idea of what I want to paint, or a color that I want to use and I just start painting. I let the brush do all the work and I follow my instincts. I usually just focus in on the piece and whatever is going on around me I don't let it bother my concentration. Inspiration comes from so much for me. In my art you will find many different types of emotions, happiness, sadness and anger. I try to paint from the inside my soul to find what it really is that I want to express on the canvas. I also have this great sense of nature from all the roadtrips I took with my family when I was younger. We would often to go to the coast on a regular basis, walking along the beach. collecting sea shells, exploring the trails, admiring the amazing views of the Atlantic ocean. We would also go up north, where there was trees, lots and lots of trees! We would go mainly in the fall, just to see the amazing array of brilliant yellows, reds, oranges and green everywhere. We would go camping where my father would point out the wildlife and tell us different things about the animals we saw. I have a fond affection for bright, vivid colors in my artwork, so as you can see these memories were an early influence in my love of color and art. I am inspired by the works of other artists and what they do. I am also inspired by just trying do something I havent done before as an artist. Like with the commissioned paintings and murals that I have done in the last 4 months. I never knew that I could do them until I was asked and said let me see what I can do. It takes just taking a chance on yourself and your abilities.
