Sébastien Bance
Rediscover the fictions of a deserted space, summon the past within a present that has abandoned it.
Sébastien Bance is a photographer driven by an all-consuming passion whose leitmotif is to make an image vibrate like a story, that it evokes an emotion, an idea.
The world full of forgotten wonders, lost paradises, abandoned places of life, often ignored, on which he looks. These places steeped in history where simple objects suffice to recall a bygone era were the starting point for a reflection dedicated to this photographic theme in order to offer a new look at the traces left by human activity. The status of wasteland or abandonment does not limit the interest that these places can arouse: it is a question of considering the evolution of these places, of finding the fictions of a deserted space, of sharing sensations with poetry and modesty, suspending the ordinary course of life to invite listening, gazing, sharing. Situations where the concepts of presence and absence confront each other in total contrast.
Sébastien Bance lives and works in Normandy (France). Self-taught, he spent whole nights learning with fervor, feeding on information gleaned from the web in his perpetual search for complete mastery of images. The fruit of this relentlessness will result in a few exhibitions, publications in the press as well as photographs exhibited in salons.
