The Artist has painted some of the characters from Pulp Fiction and has wanted to paint Vincent Vega for some time. After he finished his most recent Mia painting "Mia" (jack Rabbit Slims #2) he thought that a painting of Vincent in Jack Rabbit Slims would make a nice companion piece. The artist enjoyed the scenes that Tarantino filmed in the iconic Jack Rabbit Slims with all the bright muddled colors and shapes in the background. Not to mention the 1950's retro vibes of the restaurant. The Artist captured this iconic POP culture image from the movie on canvas using rich and bold oil paint. In his painted movie stills such as this one, he enjoys taking the image back to what would be a refined story board. This is easy to do with Quentin Tarantino's films as he so artistically shoots his films.

Ryan Rice is an experienced US painter with national exposure. His works are held in private collections worldwide.
My artwork is a reflection of me; funny, witty, smart, opinionated and always unexpected. I created a name for myself painting humorous paintings, puns and play on words. Recently I've added Figurative and Pop Culture series' to my repertoire. I paint images that I find beautiful, vividly inspiring and create emotion in me.
I strive to challenge myself every time I pick up a paintbrush or mix colors. It is through this challenge that inspires me to try new things, advance my work and continually create new pieces.
When I finish a painting, I’m ready for it to find its new home. I have had my time in creation and development, and when it's finished, my time with it is over and I know it was created for the enjoyment of others.
I love what I do. I love creating artwork, and am proud of the images I create. Beautiful, meaningful images that speak to individuals as much as they spoke to me.
In 2017, I was honored to be awarded the “Brandon Borchert Pop Art Award”.
I work out of my newly constructed Studio in Arvada where I also have my office as a Realtor at West and Main. While many of my sold original paintings live in the United States, others are in collections around the world including France, United Kingdom and Japan to name a few.
As a young child I remember being fascinated with illustrations in books and magazines. One book in particular was "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". I loved how the illustrator was able to create the word described by the author. I also enjoyed the publication MAD magazine and collected them. Looking back, I'm sure the humor aspect of each of these publications, among others, and led me to where I am today in my creative vision. From as far back as I can remember my passion has always been the creative process.
Humor and beauty are key themes and messages in my work. I love vivid colors, they make me happy and have found that many that enjoy my work find that as well. The world can be a rough place and being able to create work that makes people smile or even laugh makes me feel like I'm contributing to shine a little beauty into peoples lives.
I completely enjoy the entire process, from building my own stretcher bars and stretching the canvas to coming up with the concept and creating the work itself. When creating my pun paintings my artistic approach is to create a work that can stand alone visually as a well balanced piece of artwork, where the intention of the humor or pun come in later. My intention is to keep them playful, using bright and vivid colors. In all my work I start with a sepia underpainting. The underpainting helps me to define my dark and light areas. When adding color, I have found that working in thin layers really builds up the volume and three dimensional aspect to make the work come alive.
I enjoy the creative process of making the familiar bizarre and the bizarre familiar.
