Radek Kubina was born in 1963 in Městec Králové. His grandfather Josef Kubina sparked his interest in art, who in his childhood broadened his horizons with his DIY and carving wooden figures. Originally trained as an electrical engineer, he worked in several factories during the revolution. He fills his colleagues' procrastination time mainly by painting pictures. After the revolution in 1990, he studied with the academic sculptor Karel Peřina and began to lean towards sculpture. Since 2010, he has devoted most of his time to sculpting and only occasionally jumps back to the painting canvas. He creates works mainly from his favorite materials: sandstone and hard wood, especially acacia, oak or walnut. Much of his work is based on female lines. In his work, we often see torsos.
