Gerd Reutter é um escultor alemão contemporâneo. Desde 1953, Gerd Reutter fixou residência em Mannheim, após uma viagem que o levou a vários lugares da Alemanha, Suíça e França. Nessa época, ele era pintor, aplicando revestimentos impermeáveis nas estruturas de madeira das torres de cebola da Igreja dos Jesuítas. Em 1989, co-fundou a associação cultural "Industrietempel eV" com amigos e familiares, e continua a ser um membro ativo até hoje. Não foi até depois de muitos anos administrando seu próprio negócio de mercearia que ele embarcou em sua jornada artística, explorando a modelagem em argila ao atingir a idade de aposentadoria. Em 2003, o Conselho Regional de Karlsruhe adquiriu sua escultura intitulada "Open End".
