Project Rare Earth
I have been photographing the landscape for more years than I care to remember. From the very beginning I found it fascinating. It drew me in, compelled me to keep returning. It was, and still is, addictive. With every failure I was driven to try again, to learn from my mistakes, to succeed at virtually any cost. With every success I was encouraged to go further, try new techniques and look at the landscape in different ways. It was endless. The landscape is endless. There is always something new to capture and this is what drives me: the desire to find new subjects and portray the landscape in different ways. This is what led me to Project Rare Earth.
My Rare Earth project explores the hidden or overlooked elements of our landscape. This is the fabric of the land. The parts we walk on or walk past or mainly just ignore. Its aesthetic potential might not be immediately apparent but look closely and striking details will begin to emerge. Photography is the perfect medium by which to capture the multitude of colors, textures and beautiful, minute details that reveal themselves to the searching eye.
The project is ongoing. Images will be published as they become available. There will be a common theme: the unseen landscape will become seen!
