Önder Soy was born in 1972 in Erzincan. He completed his Associate's Degree in Theology in 2010. He began his journey into calligraphy in 2003 with the calligrapher Mücahit Kılınçer, and continued with calligrapher Yusuf İzzettin Sav. He received icazet (authorization) in Nesih, Rika, Divani, and Sülüs scripts. He has participated in many group and solo exhibitions in Turkey. He currently teaches calligraphy at Başakşehir Central Mosque, where he also serves as an Imam and Khatib.
