Nicolas Guyot
Nicolas Guyot explores the art of silver bromide, a unique process that he masters to perfection. He transforms the photographic material itself using silver bromide as a paint, thus creating photographic prints of remarkable singularity.
This technique, which he has developed over the course of his work, reinvents the process of film photography by transforming it into a plastic artistic expression. He shapes, alters and physically models the photographic material, merging the act of the photographer with that of the painter.
His photographic work evokes the traits of pictorialism with a symbolist tendency. The material and the gesture are of capital importance, and the result obtained is unique. His images embody a double temporality, oscillating between the moment of the shot and that of the final creation. It is life itself that decides the ultimate expression of these images, thus creating a subtle harmony between the photographer, the material and the deep meaning of the works.
