In the center of the picture is a rhinoceros on a leash with a small crab. The rhinoceros is fast asleep, he is both alive and dead at the same time. At first glance, the trees seem dry and lifeless, but looking closer, you can see moving dancing silhouettes, thin arms-branches over a fat large animal, shells hanging from the branches, similar to fruits. The picture depicts both day and night. Here is a figurative combination of contradictory concepts.
This artwork is a reference to the influence of human beings on nature.
We probably will find out later what will be the costs of our desire to get quick profit. How comparable is the price of life and horns. The Northern white rhinos have recently become extinct in the wild.
This surreal landscape was created by me personally in February 2022 with a great care by quality oil colours at the natural pigments. This piece can be hung on its own without a frame since it is painted on sides of the canvas.

A surrealist artist based in Switzerland. Considering all life on Earth as an important part of ourselves, she also expresses through her art that we are an integral part of this world, trying to show that the viewer is also viewed - viewed with eyes that often we do not see and have no awareness of.
Lu works with traditional materials such as oil on canvas, which helps her to express deep feelings and allows her to convey a very special mood.
