Zhang Lifeng, a contemporary Chinese calligrapher, painter, and ceramist based in Shanwei, south China. His talent in art was rooted from his father, a renowned painter in 1970s.
Lifeng started with calligraphy and painting ever since he was 6-year-old by mirroring the work of his father's and some other masters. He participated a juried group show for the first time in 1983 at the age of 16. After graduating from university, he worked in the multimedia industry for a few years and then quit for pursuing his love for art.
Most of his signature artworks were created with mixed media of ink, acrylic and pigment on Xuan(Shuen) Paper, as he believes they compliment each other in the most aesthetic way based on his experiments with various painting medias in the past half century. When the colors melt into the fine textures of the Xuan paper, it creates a poetic and tranquil feeling itself, like tender kisses or soft touches with love.
Influenced by the traditional Chinese Taoism philosophy, he dives deep in exploring the essence of human existence, the interconnection and interdependence between life on the earth and the energy from the remote sky, the harmony between humans and natures...
Lifeng has won many awards with his outstanding work of painting and ceramic sculptures in the last 30 years, interviewed by press houses both provincial-wide and national-wide, such as <People's Daily>2017, <Shanwei Daily>2019/2012, <CIDU Evening News>2012, TV channels like Phenix Satellite TV (Hongkong), etc.
His works were collected by art museums and private collectors from China and overseas. A few fashion brands have invited him to collaborate by integrating his art talent into their design.
Honor is for the past, but life must be lived forwards, Lifeng always stays open to new possibilities in this collaborative journey through the art and life.
