Karen Amsallem, née à Lyon en 1979, est une artiste peintre dont la passion pour la peinture a été évidente dès son plus jeune âge. Son amour pour le dessin et l’art en général l’a toujours guidée.

En 2008, elle a choisi de perfectionner sa technique en suivant des cours du soir. Cela lui a permis de découvrir une variété de supports et de techniques (acrylique, fusain, huile, pastels) pour améliorer ses œuvres. Elle a commencé par le figuratif (portraits, natures mortes, nus), puis a reproduit divers tableaux de grands maîtres tels que Gauguin, Van Gogh, Matisse et Chagall.

Cependant, les exigences de sa vie professionnelle et familiale l’ont contrainte à mettre sa passion en veille pendant quelques années. Ce n’est qu’en 2020, avec le confinement et la crise sanitaire, qu’elle a ressenti le besoin impérieux de reprendre ses pinceaux. Elle a pu ainsi retrouver dans la peinture la liberté de voyager à travers son imaginaire.

Karen a repris une formation de peinture auprès d'un maitre installé en Suisse (Culture Peinture) qui lui a permis de libérer sa créativité à travers la redécouverte de grands principes techniques fondamentaux tels que la composition, la structure, le nombre d’or et les équivalences. La structuration de la composition à partir de mesures, de formes géométriques et du nombre d’or a littéralement libéré sa créativité. Chaque année, elle perfectionne son art par des formations sur des points techniques. Elle est attirée par les couleurs et s’inspire de l’abstraction, du cubisme et de l’expressionnisme pour les révéler. Karen aime susciter les ambiguïtés, faire apparaître des détails de composition comme des cœurs, et faire discuter les amateurs de son art. Elle aime naviguer avec les émotions de celles et ceux qui regardent ses toiles.
