Jérôme Astruc
Jérôme Astruc is a born and bred Parisian. Eversince he was a teenager, Jerome has been painting various subjects all of them different in style and inspiration : dilated forms, fluid nudes, virtual spaces...
A graduate from Paris Dauphine University, Jerome kept his painting as a hobby while pursuing a 20 years – long career in Information Technologies until 2002 when he left Paris for Toulouse.
Jérôme then decided to enroll himself at Toulouse’s School of Fine Arts and dedicate himself to his first calling in life, painting.
Fuled by his life experience and some newly acquired techniques, his painting evolved towards a dreamlike universe where all shapes vanish and the world’s evermoving essence appears.
Jerome’s current artistic quest could be summed up by the following paradigm : capturing the waters’ movements rather than its reflection or seizing the energy of the air instead of the sky’s nuances.
He has pleasure to make a commitment in confidential walks, imaginary spaces or show themselves distant memories, the short histories of the childhood. Get lost in dream landscapes to recognize itself better, concretize the space to include the main part the essential...
He transform the materials and subjects into colored spaces and merge in relation forms paintings. Those scapes hang on the look by their material, relief and harshness, these autonomous forms of colors exist as such and speak to us.
He paints most of the time his support put in dish, turns all around, looks for the exit, for the light, for the color, for the look in movement inside the painting, letting the imagination wander. He does not look for the abstraction or for the modernity but for a search to be renewed in an unknown space to be discovered.
He also realizes nudes and portraits in the oil, acrylic and silver mine, as well as sculptures and installations provenants of natural materials: stone, stump, bird skull, lichen...
The works of Astruc were exposed in numerous places in France : Exposure in the Pont Neuf in Paris ; Inauguration in 2016 of the new offices of the IOT Valley in Toulouse ; In May 2018, the city of Toulouse invited him to expose its work in Capitol.
In September Astruc is presented to the "Hotel de Roland" in Rabastens on the occasion of " Les Journées du Patrimoine".
