Jeongyeon Kim (Jeongyeon Kim)

I wanted to explore human inner self and emotions through my work. The paintings created through my work are not simple portraits, but rather an attempt to express complex human emotions and psychology. 

The distorted and exaggerated features of the face, or the features that are blurred or simply expressed, are intended to reveal or conceal the true emotions that we hide in everyday life.

The various colors and thick lines used in the works are tools to visually express the intensity of emotion. Primary colors such as red, blue, and yellow symbolize individual emotional states. Red represents anger and passion, blue represents sadness and solitude, and yellow represents joy and hopes. These color combinations express the complexity and multilayeredness of emotions.

I am very interested in the various emotions and psychological conflicts that humans experience in modern society. In particular, we want to express the loneliness and anxiety of modern people, as well as the hope and joy they find within it. These topics are also deeply related to my personal experience.

Additionally, I am very inspired by the works of expressionist and surrealist artists. Like their work, I focus on exploring the human inner self and expressing it visually.

The works created through my work reflect the emotional confusion and complexity that humans experience in modern society. We experience a variety of emotions in our daily lives, but we have trouble expressing them. The work that comes from this experience of mine aims to visually reveal those emotions, helping viewers recognize and empathize with their own emotions.

Additionally, I wanted the works to highlight that the expression of emotions is not simply an individual, but a social and universal experience.

My work is part of a journey to explore the inner self and emotions of human beings. We tried to express the complexity and intensity of emotions through primary colors, thick lines, and distorted shapes. The ultimate goal of my work is to visually reveal the various emotional experiences we experience in modern society, helping viewers recognize and empathize with their own emotions.

I hope that through my works, viewers can look inside each person and discover the complexity and beauty of emotions. I believe that art is not simply a pursuit of beauty, but a process of exploring human essence and understanding ourselves through it.
