Jean-Pierre Borderie

Jean-Pierre Borderie is a contemporary French artist, born in 1952. Formerly a photographer and animator, he collaborated with Laszlo Ruska in the Société Française de Photographie’s section dedicated to photographers of the imaginary.

From the age of 18 to 35, Borderie focused exclusively on photography, which served as the raw medium for his creative pursuits. During this period, his interest in painting began to grow, sparking an exploration of the interplay between photographic and pictorial creation. Photography offered an initial depiction of the object, while painting allowed him to delve deeper into the connection between the visible and the invisible, linking physical forms to abstract thought.

Gradually, painting became central to his artistic expression, with the color palette serving as a powerful tool to explore and convey emotions. Borderie also extended his creative practice to sculpture, treating both mediums as a means of exploration.
