Janos Kujbus
The characters in my paintings are actors captured in one moment of a fictional story. I leave the other scenes to the imagination of each observer.
János Kujbus, a contemporary Hungarian painter, distinguishes himself through his figurative artworks in the modern pop art style, captivating audiences not only with their substantial size, often exceeding two meters, but also with the distinctive qualities of form and content they embody.
Within the expansive canvases, the narratives unfold, portraying the everyday stories of today's individuals navigating the complexities of life in a chaotic world, seeking fulfillment and purpose. Kujbus's paintings are crafted to complement modern interiors, injecting them with originality, uniqueness, and charm.
His artistic contributions have garnered extensive recognition, with professional articles about his work featured in various prestigious art magazines. Notably, two of Kujbus's paintings, "Waiting" and "Selfie," in digital form, have been selected by NASA for inclusion in the Lunar Codex Cultural Heritage of Humanity project, symbolizing the global significance of his art.
János Kujbus has curated 15 solo exhibitions and participated in over 40 group exhibitions, showcasing his works not only in Hungary but also in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, and the United States. Through his prolific career, he continues to leave an indelible mark on the contemporary art scene, both nationally and internationally.

Life is an eternal and never-ending cycle of an infinite number of stories of each of us.
Some of these stories, the essence of which is common to many people, I transform into my paintings. They are stories about everyday life, stories about friendships, about relationships and love, about children and family, about desires and ideas, about work and career, about lifestyle and attitudes towards it, about age and the passage of time, about sports, about travel and other topics.
You can read my version of the story under each painting.
But you may see something else or other stories there. Because there are many more stories hidden in every painting than you can see at first glance. In your imagination, you can then create more and more versions of the stories of the characters on the screen. Thanks to them, the painting in your interior will live perhaps several parallel lives, you will always find something new in it and it will be even more interesting.
Many paintings have a philosophical or ethical message embedded in them, ideas that are sometimes worth thinking about.

Paintings by Janos Kujbus will be brought to the Moon by NASA
NASA will send scientific instruments to the Moon, over 2022 to 2025. Along with NASA instruments, these missions will carry commercial payloads, including the time capsules that make up The Lunar Codex.
The Codex will be the first significant placement of contemporary arts on the Moon in 50+ years. While focused on visual art, the Lunar Codex also includes a substantial collection of contemporary books, stories, poetry, essays, music, films, and more.
As an arts and culture project, the Lunar Codex has been called the most expansive, international, and diverse collection of contemporary culture launched to the Moon. A documentary being filmed about the Lunar Codex is calling it a time machine from today to the future - and from the future to today.
At its essence, the Lunar Codex is a time capsule, a message-in-a-bottle to future generations.
János Kubus is the first contemporary artist from Hungary whose artworks will be sent to the Moon.
