Born in 1967, Raluca Vulcan showed a passion for the art of drawing at a very early age. From the age of 5, she surprised those around her with expressive and strikingly realistic portraits. At 13, she won the 1st Prize in the Bucharest Drawing Competition, distinguishing herself against students from the prestigious College of Art, an achievement that confirmed her precocious talent.

However, despite this success, her parents encouraged her to pursue a medical career, and she took a science class in high school. In 1986, at the age of 19, Raluca made a radical decision and fled communist Romania to settle in France. In Paris, she began a preparatory year in medicine, in line with her parents' expectations, but her heart quickly led her to another path. She joined the advertising school "Atelier Albers" attached to Iscom, then trained in 3D computer graphics, which led her to work in the video game industry.

Although 3D brings her a stable career, her deep desire to draw and paint never leaves her. For years, she discreetly scribbles sketches in the Parisian metro, trying to reconcile her daily life as a professional with her artistic passion.

In 2006, Raluca Vulcan decided to change her life. She definitively left her job as a 3D computer graphics artist to devote herself fully to her vocation as a painter. After brief experiences in painting workshops, she chose to become an autodidact. This bet proved fruitful: her first participation in an art fair earned her an award, inaugurating a series of recognitions for her work.

Initially, Raluca focused on nudes and portraits, especially her famous “flowered women”. From 2015, she expanded her repertoire to include urban landscapes and scenes of life, always in a bright and colorful palette that characterizes her style. Her painting, full of joy and vivacity, is a celebration of life, where colors burst and bring a sparkling freshness to each canvas.

Since 2006, Raluca Vulcan has received numerous awards for her work and has permanent exhibitions in several galleries. Her work is featured in private and public collections in France and abroad.
